The Strathmore University Community Service Centre (CSC) is committed to supporting and promoting the importance of Service-Based Learning (SBL) as an essential part of our students’ educational journey. SBL is a distinctive learning approach that combines academic coursework with hands-on community service, providing students with opportunities to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world challenges while making a tangible impact on the community. It is an integral part of Strathmore University’s mission to develop responsible, ethical, and engaged leaders who contribute positively to society.

As part of our ongoing efforts to recognize and celebrate outstanding contributions to community development, the CSC invites all students who have completed or are currently undertaking their SBL to participate in our annual competition. This competition seeks to highlight initiatives that embody the values of Service to Society by demonstrating how the SBL projects have benefited the communities they serve. The aim is to reward projects that effectively address community needs, encourage sustainability, and foster long-term positive change.

We are particularly interested in understanding how your SBL experience has made a meaningful difference in the community you have worked with. We encourage you to share how your project has contributed to embedding sustainable practices, raised awareness of local challenges, or identified opportunities for improvement that will have a lasting impact.

We highly recommend that you work closely with your organization’s leadership. Their deep understanding of the community’s needs, challenges, and existing solutions will provide valuable insights as you refine your project. By leveraging their expertise, you will be able to identify areas where your contributions can truly make a difference. This collaboration will also ensure that your application is accurate, innovative, and demonstrates the full scope of your project’s impact.

The Service to Society competition is an excellent opportunity for you to showcase the meaningful work you are doing, whether you are nearing the completion of your SBL or still actively engaged in it. If you are interested in participating, please submit your application via email to csc@strathmore.edu, using the enclosed form.
